Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has appointed Andrew Kanime, Trophimus Hiwilepo and Fabiam George as non-executive directors of MTC with immediate effect.
The appointments will be ratified by shareholders at the next annual general meeting of the company. MTC has also announced the appointment of Octivius Kahiya as its new chief commercial officer. With over 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, he has honed his skills through working in culturally diverse and challenging frontier markets. He has worked for top Tier-one global telecommunications companies, including Veon, Etisalat and Airtel, and has in seven countries across three continents, namely Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Afghanistan, UAE, Iraq and Zimbabwe.
He holds an MBA from the University of Zimbabwe, a BTech Hons (University of South Africa), Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Business (MIT Sloan and Emeritus Institute), Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (Chartered Institute of Marketing United Kingdom), a Graduate Diploma in Marketing (Institute of Marketing Management South Africa) and a Certificate in Digital Strategies (Columbia Business School and Emeritus Institute).
As Chief Commercial Officer, his role will be to drive MTC’s growth through the development of innovative market solutions, by listening to market demand, and innovatively designing product offerings that meet customers’ demands.
Deep Yellow Limited has also announced the appointment of experienced mining finance executive Craig Barnes as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), commencing 1 August 2024. The appointment follows the resignation of Mark Pitts.
Barnes is a chartered accountant with more than 25 years’ experience in senior finance and financial management roles within the mining industry both in Africa and Australia, including direct exposure to uranium development and production in Namibia.
Barnes holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and an Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of South Africa.
Before joining Deep Yellow, he held the position of CFO of Galena Mining Limited and prior to that was CFO of Paladin Energy Limited for more than five years and CFO of DRDGOLD Limited and its affiliated subsidiaries for more than seven years.
