Namfisa urges customers to ensure fair resolution

Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (Namfisa), Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth Matomola has encouraged Namibians to lodge their complaints with Namfisa to ensure a fair resolution when they have disputes with non-banking financial institutions.

He explained that a complaint must first be lodged with the financial institution concerned and the clients must ensure that they receive a response in writing. If not satisfied with the response received from the financial institution, a complaint must be lodged with Namfisa. He said the complaints can be emailed, or submitted in person at the Namfisa head office, faxed or sent by post.

He said Namfisa’s complaints department investigates complaints from consumers of non-bank financial services at no cost. Any registered non-bank financial institution or financial intermediary in Namibia can be complained against, he said.

Matomola has maintained a high-performing culture cantered around service excellence for stakeholders and customers. Namfisa’s commitment to CSRI is ingrained in its institutional ethos, reflected in a dedicated CSRI Policy aimed at fostering meaningful contributions to society. During the 2023/24 Financial Year which ended on 31 March 2024, the authority supported institutions to the value of N$ 262 589.

The beneficiaries and institutions that benefited are Namibia Consumer Trust-NCT, Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), Smiley’s National Charity House, Onelago Combined School, Tech Stars Startup weekend in Windhoek, Faith Primary School, Mayeyi Traditional Authority, Muketela Primary school, Schmelenville Combined School, The Brief Internship Programme, Drimiopsis Primary School and Heroes Day Commemoration.
