The visit will be focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
During the visit, Masisi will serve as the guest of honour at the Swakopmund International Trade Expo (Swaitex).
This year’s Swaitex is aimed at efficient connectivity and resource beneficiation for sustainable growth in Africa.
The expo at the coast will provide an opportunity for the leaders to engage with industry stakeholders and discuss collaborative initiatives aimed at the economic development of both nations.
The two presidents are also set to visit the Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) and the Botswana dry port facility in Walvis Bay.
These visits are crucial for the collaboration on logistics and transportation infrastructure, which are essential for the trade relations between the two countries.
On Thursday, Mbumba and Masisi will hold official talks to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations and the implementation of collaborative projects.
Masisi is accompanied by Botswana’s Vice-President Slumber Tsogwane and senior ministers, highlighting the significance of the visit for both nations.
The visit comes at a time when both countries seek to leverage the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) to boost intra-African trade.
The two heads of state are expected to discuss strategies to connect the private sectors of the countries and explore opportunities for mutual economic growth.
The collaboration in logistics and transportation, particularly through the use of Namibia’s harbours and the Botswana dry port facility, is a key component of these discussions.
The relationship between Namibia and Botswana has been robust, with the countries cooperating on various fronts, including trade, health, environmental protection, and security.
The visit is an extension of this long-standing partnership and signifies the commitment of both nations to furthering their diplomatic ties.
In a previous visit, Masisi reaffirmed Botswana’s commitment to upholding and deepening the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially following the passing of President Hage Geingob.
The strong bond between the nations is further emphasized by such diplomatic engagements, which aim to ensure stability and prosperity for both countries.
The collaborative efforts discussed during this visit are expected to yield tangible benefits for both nations, enhancing their economic and social development initiatives.
Masisi’s visit started on Tuesday and will conclude on Friday.
