Pupils from over ten primary schools in Gobabis, situated in the Omaheke region of Namibia, have become the recipients of an innovative initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Sport Youth and National Service, in collaboration with the Namibia School Sports Union and the prestigious Real Madrid Foundation.
This pilot phase of the Real Madrid Foundation programme entails coaching clinics conducted across various regions in the country.
The initiative is strategically crafted to instill discipline, motivation, equality, respect, and overall well-being among young learners from Namibian schools. By focusing on football skills, the programme aims to not only enhance sporting abilities but also to nurture essential life skills.
Cadilu Fishing has stepped forward to finance the program as part of its corporate strategic responsibility. Their support is pivotal in facilitating the establishment of school football and basketball leagues in the identified towns, thereby fostering a culture of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
The training programme is multifaceted, with a primary focus on building capacity for both teachers and learners in football skills. Beyond the technical aspects of the game, the Real Madrid Foundation aims to reinforce existing school programmes, placing a strong emphasis on long-term athlete development.
By introducing structured sports initiatives into the educational landscape, the aim is not only to produce skilled athletes but also well-rounded individuals equipped with values that transcend the sporting arena. Through this initiative, young learners are poised to benefit from holistic development, encompassing physical fitness, mental resilience, and social responsibility.
