Capricorn Eagles misses as Uganda and Zimbabwe Secure Spots in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2024

Uganda and Zimbabwe emerged as the top-performing teams, securing their places in the highly anticipated ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2024, set to take place in Dubai early next year.

Hosts Uganda showcased skill, overcoming a determined Tanzanian side in the semi-final clash. In a closely contested match, Uganda emerged victorious, beating Tanzania by 10 runs with four balls to spare. The hard-fought victory earned them a well-deserved ticket to the Global Qualifier.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, dominated the sub-Saharan Africa semi-final derby against Namibia, securing an impressive 86-run victory.

The two African finalists will now join an elite group of eight teams for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. The participating teams in the Global Qualifier include Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE, USA, and Vanuatu. This diverse lineup will vie for the opportunity to challenge the already-qualified teams, which include cricket powerhouses Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and West Indies in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to be held in Bangladesh.
