Windhoek, Namibia – It was a day of intense competition, unrelenting spirit, and outstanding performances at the Bank Windhoek NVF Cup Finals 2023.
Khomas NAMPOL emerged as the victorious team in both the men’s and women’s competitions, solidifying their reputation as a dominant force in Namibian volleyball.
In a thrilling showdown in the men’s final, Khomas NAMPOL, under the leadership of captain Mensah Kambala, showcased their mettle by claiming the coveted title. Captain Kambala expressed his pride in his team’s performance and acknowledged the fierce nature of the match.
On the other side of the net, NDF’s captain, Asser Daniel, expressed disappointment with the final outcome. He cited too many mistakes that ultimately cost his team the game. Nevertheless, he remained optimistic, emphasizing the need for his team to regroup and come back even stronger in the future.
The bronze medal in the men’s competition went to the Namibia Correctional Service, who clinched a hard-fought victory against Afrocats with a score of 3-1.
In the women’s cup final, Khomas NAMPOL continued their winning streak, emerging as champions by defeating the Namibia Navy club with a resounding score of three sets to nil. Khomas NAMPOL’s journey to the final was marked by a 3-1 victory in the semifinals, while the Navy team earned their spot in the final by defeating Kudos with a score of 3-2.
The bronze medal in the women’s competition was secured by Revivals, who triumphed over Kudos with a score of three sets to one.
Hikllary Dux Imbuwa, the president of the Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF), lauded the growth of volleyball in Namibia and commended the remarkable performances of the players in the competition. He emphasized the competitiveness and continued development of the sport in the country, reinforcing the notion that volleyball in Namibia is on an upward trajectory.
