The Swapo Party Vice-President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has strongly urged party members, supporters, and sympathizers to work together and unify by saying “The congress is over, no more groups”.
She said all members should support the party through her as the only nominated presidential candidate during the 2024 elections.
“Congress is over, no more groups. You all support Swapo, through Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa, your presidential candidate come 2024,” she said.
Netumbo was speaking at the rally of the Swapo party held at Eenhana on Saturday.
She urged members of the party to respect each other and party leaders who participated in the top positions of the party but did not make it.
“They are still in our party structures, and we need them. Because I will consult them, and it does not mean that because I am the one elected, I am the one who knows everything,” she said.
She also mentioned that those who contested for the top four positions of the party last year have maturely conducted themselves and that they are all still in the leadership of the party.
She emphasized hard work and unity, saying it is the responsibility of the party leaders to work hard and unite for the best interest of the party and its people.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said the party has lost big economic centres in the country, therefore, encouraging party members to work hard.
“It is you and me, as party members to work hard and claim the economic sectors we lost. We should not do that by words but through our work,” she reiterated.
She called on members of the party who are employed in the government and parastatals to improve
service delivery and grow trust among members of the party.
Meanwhile, Swapo Secretary-General, Sophia Shaningwa said that Nandi- Ndaitwah needs the support of the party members and should not be criticized or insulted.
Shaningwa called on political, church, and traditional leaders to support Nandi-Ndaitwah to run the country well if she wins the 2024 presidential elections.
The party rally was attended by Swapo members in full Swapo attire and regalia.
