Alpha Namibia Industries Renewable Power Limited (ANIREP) has asked the Namibia Stock Exchange for an extension for the publication of audited annual results for the year ended 28 February 2023.
The ANIREP Board of Directors told shareholders and the general public this week that the restatement procedures relating to the 2021 and 2022 financial years has delayed the preparation and finalization of the ANIREP’s financial statements for the year ended 28 February 2023.
“Consequently, ANIREP will not be in a position to publish its audited financial statements for the year ended 28 February 2023 within 3 months, as required in terms of the NSX Listings Requirements,” the company said.
Accordingly, ANIREP has obtained formal approval from the Namibian Stock Exchange to delay the publication of its audited financial statements to 15 June 2023. ANIREP has further obtained formal approval from the Namibian Stock Exchange to delay publication of its provisional report, as required in terms of section 3.16 of the Listings Requirements, to 15 June 2023.
ANIREP was formed and incorporated in Windhoek Namibia in 2018. ANIREP is taking advantage of the environment created by the government for mobilising private sector investment into power projects, well ahead of its peer governments in Southern Africa.
This includes cost reflective tariffs, an independent and functional regulator, and significant steps towards a competitive market structure, including the ability to purchase power from any generator, other than NamPower.
In November last year, ANIREP Solar Pty Ltd and CENORED signed an amendment to the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Distribution Connection Agreement (DCA) which has existed since 2015.
Projects in the ANIREP stable, include operating an 18.5 MW solar plant for Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb, in addition to the 20MW solar PV Khan IPP which broke ground in March 2022, plus the inauguration last year of the 20 MW Omburu with NamPower.
NamPower has inaugurated its first fully owned and operated renewable energy plant, the Omburu 20 MW PV Power Station.
The power station located on the outskirts of Omaruru, was constructed by HopSol Africa, a unit of Alpha Namibia Industries Renewable Power Limited and is expected to have capacity to power around 18,500 homes. This comes as the solar plant was connected to the national grid.
