Moses Matjayi who serves as the current Chief Executive Officer of the Otjiwarongo Municipality, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the City of Windhoek.
Matjayi became the top candidate for the position after Conrad Lutombi, the current CEO of the Roads Authority, declined an offer to fill the position.
The appointment of Matjayi was announced on the social media pages of the City of Windhoek yesterday.
In April this year, the top candidates were shortlisted for the CEO position, including the Deputy Executive Director at the Ministry of Works and Transport, Joyce Mukubi, Chief Business Unit Executive at NamWater, Eino Mvula, and Charmill Zamuee.
The candidates publicly presented their proposals for the CEO position in September 2021.
At the time, the applications of 59 other hopeful candidates were rejected by the CoW’s council.
In April, Sam Nujoma jr, the Chairperson of the CoW’sManagement Committee confirmed that the appointment of Matyayi was approved after Lutombi declined the offer.
At the time, Nujoma said that the decision to approve Matjayi for the CEO position has been minuted and that Erastus Uutoni, the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, had to make the final decision about the appointment of the new CEO for the CoW.
