The Namibian Police has revealed that more than 40 000 people applied for the cadet constable job opportunities advertised recently and that only 2,398 candidates have been shortlisted for interviews.
The Namibian Police is seeking to employ about 1,000 cadet officers, and the shortlisted candidates are expected to undergo several tests. However, Nampol did not specify what criteria they used to reduce the over 40, 000 candidates into a smaller number.
The 1,000 new cadet constables will include 250 who are coming from the National Youth Service at an advanced stage. The recruitment interviews will be conducted at the Police Regional Headquarters in each region from 31 May – 18 June 2023.
The interviews are scheduled as follows: Zambezi, //Karas, Khomas and Omusati regions are from 31 May to 5 June.
Kavango East, Hardap, Oshikoto, Erongo and Oshana regions are from 6 June to 12 June, while Kavango West, Omaheke, Otjozondjupa and Ohangwena Regions are from 13 June to 18 June. Interviews will comprise physical and medical tests, an aptitude test, physical fitness tests, and a criminal screening. According to the lists of the first seven regions released yesterday, candidates over the age of 25 appear to be dominating the list, with no huge gender gap.
All applicants are encouraged to visit the Namibian Police Regional Headquarters or, alternatively, the Nampol Facebook Page to confirm if they have been shortlisted.
