Enthusiasts from the Namibian civil aviation community are all set to welcome Kerry McCauley, an American ferry pilot who has flown light aircraft all over the world in his extensive career during a fly-in event that will be hosted at Lapa Lange for the next few days.
McCauley is credited with delivering aircraft of all shapes and sizes to more than 60 countries while flying over vast stretches of the earth’s surface whether it be ocean or land.
His adventures were immortalized in the book ‘Ferry Pilot’ and he also starred in a Discovery Channel series ‘Dangerous Flights’.
The legendary American pilot has a vast number of flying hours under his belt and he will be sharing his extensive experiences with all participants of the National Airways Corporation (NAC) Flyaway event from 4 to 8 May in southern Namibia.
The Aircraft Operators and Pilots Association (AOPA) of Namibia joined the NAC in the organization and hosting of the event at Lapa Lange where more than 20 fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft from outside the country’s borders will gather for an exciting four days of flying fun.
According to the organisers of the NAC Flyaway, aviation enthusiasts will travel from various destinations in Southern Africa before checking in at Keetmanshoop and then departing for Lapa Lange south of Mariental.
Lapa Lange in collaboration with I-Dream Africa is all set to welcome the more than 100 guests in a specially constructed luxury tented camp for the duration of the event.
Besides following a loosely programmed schedule, which will include networking and experience-sharing sessions during the event at the lodge, aviation enthusiasts will also do fly-outs to some of the best and most exclusive tourism attraction spots that Namibia can offer.
