The Independent Patriot for Change (IPC) says it is ready to tackle public issues and its internal political businesses as the party prepares for the 2024 national elections.
The party’s National Spokesperson, Immanuel Nashinge on Monday, said this.
IPC held a High-Level Consultative Planning meeting last week Saturday in Windhoek, under the theme “reorganisation for victory in 2024 and the role of a patriotic Namibia”.
Nashinge said the consultative planning meeting looked at the issues of genocide and ancestral land with its concern on how the party can address the issues.
He said the ongoing issue of high unemployment in the country was also tackled at the meeting, and that suggestions were made to resolve the issue.
“The party discussed the best approach to unemployment among the youth, considering possible solutions to create job opportunities,” Nashinge stated.
He explained that Namibia is currently going through a situation of “an unhealthy economy” , adding that the meeting also discussed strategies to revive the economy.
Nashinge further added that the party discussed ways to handle mineral resources, fishing and agricultural industries, which he said are the biggest contributers to the growth of the economy.
He further revealed that the party meeting looked at how to identify parliamentarians, adding that eight candidates from each region will appear on the party list.
“IPC is a party with a collective leadership. It chooses to do things in a different way,” the Spokesperson explained.
The Namibian and party Constitutions as well as the principles and respect for the rule of law were also discussed at the meeting.
“We are going to remain clear on the respect of the rule of law, we are law-abiding citizens. Each member and leader of IPC should understand everything they do, especially at the grassroots level,” Nashinge said.
The meeting discussed the ways to protect democratic institutions, Nashinge added.
“Those were some of the issues we discussed in detail. The rest of the discussion was just the political business of the party,” he indicated.
During the meeting, the party’s Leader, Panduleni Itula called for collective leadership and the respect of the Namibian Constitution and the rule of law in the party.
“Are you ready to finish the race? The party will not be able to finish the race if it does not respect and records the needs of those that elected you,” Itula remarked.
