Learners at Coblenz Combined School in the Okakarara Constituency have gained access to digital learning tools following the establishment of a smart classroom aimed at improving access to technology-driven education in rural Namibia .
The facility, introduced through a partnership between B2Gold Namibia and EduVision, includes digital learning equipment and an online-access smart board valued at nearly N$300 000.
B2Gold Namibia managing director John Roos said the investment is intended to expose learners to research tools, interactive lessons and virtual learning platforms that can place them on equal footing with learners in more technologically advanced schools.
Roos challenged learners and educators to ensure that the investment translates into improved academic performance.
“We want to see returns; we want to see your marks improve,” he said, adding that the company expects the technology to make a measurable difference in learners’ performance.
EduVision director Frikkie Louw said the initiative was established to address the digital divide affecting learners in remote areas.
He said EduVision’s vision since 2018 has been to use technology to bridge the educational gap between urban and rural schools, describing education as one of the most important investments in Namibia’s future.
Coblenz Combined School principal Uazuvara Kuzatjike and school board member Rapupara Tjipira welcomed the initiative, saying the facility would support the school’s efforts to improve learning outcomes.
The smart classroom forms part of B2Gold Namibia’s wider education support programme, with the company having established 20 smart classrooms across the country to date.
